The reunion was held the day before a Celebration of the Birth of the Internet on the UCLA Campus 50 years ago. The group took a tour that included a stop in the Interrnet Room, Boelter Hall, room 3200, where the first Internet message was sent to Stanford on that day 50 years ago. Update on Larry Tannas

Through generous grants to the Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science, Carol and Larry Tannas have created an endowed chair in Engineering, the Carol and Lawrence E. Tannas, Jr. Endowed Chair in Engineering.   Click here   to read more about the the grant.

Larry was awarded the 2017 Lifetime Contribution Award by the College of Engineering. The award is described as follows. “The Lifetime Contribution Award honors individuals who have brought distinction to the profession and the school. Nominees need not be UCLA Engineering alumni. The school seeks candidates who have led exceptional careers in their chosen field and made significant contributions to enhance the school.”

In March 2018, the new Engineering 6 building was opened. It includes the Carol and Lawrence E. Tannas, Jr. Engineering Alumni Suite. You can read more about it here.

In February 2021, Larry died from conditions caused by Covid-19 ( obituary).
